About Us
Introduction
My name is Dakota and I'm the face behind Redwood Aussiedoodles. A bit about myself, I was born in California and was raised in Northern California for my childhood. From dogs, cats, turtles, and hamsters, my family always had some kind of pet while I was growing up. But I definitely had a soft spot for our dogs. I knew that I wanted to do something with animals (especially dogs) for my future, but I wasn't sure of what until I started my search for a dog of my own in early 2019. Like most, I didn't really know what all went into breeding dogs until I started researching breeders and trying to figure out how it all worked. And down the rabbit hole I went and came out with my first Aussiedoodle, Harley Quinn. I made friends with other experienced breeders and have learned all I could to produce the healthiest and happiest of puppies that others could bring into their homes. As anyone in any field, I'm still learning. But I'm raising the puppies in my program to the best of my ability and hope that you too, could join our Redwood Aussiedoodle family!

Why Aussiedoodles?
I grew up around Labradoodles, Goldendoodles, and even a Sheepadoodle. But never saw myself as a doodle owner until I started the search for my first dog. An Australian Shepherd was my top choice as I'd fallen in love with the breed a few years prior. But as I lived in a smaller apartment, I figured a low shedding breed would be easier cleanup. Thus, I started my search for a Goldendoodle. It wasn't until I came across a breeder who has Aussiedoodles as well, that I even realized they existed. After looking more into this newish breed, I realized that this breed was what I was looking for! I purchased my first Aussiedoodle in 2019 and haven't looked back since.
Behind the Name
I grew up in Northern California and have always been around redwood trees. I'd always visit or pass through the Redwood Forest. Being in a huge forest, surrounded by towering redwood trees is quite the experience as a kid growing up and it is somewhere I enjoy visiting still. Did you know that the roots of redwood trees only go from 6 to 12 feet deep? This is quite shallow for trees that can grow up to 300 feet tall. The reason these trees can grow to this height without toppling is because their shallow roots interlock with all redwood trees around them making an entire system of interlocking roots. Having such an expansive support system and tight nit community is something I strive to have in my life as well as my breeding program. So, you can say I take the name Redwood to heart.
